About Vic

Vic’s coaching philosophy is built on a foundation of accountability, character development, and genuine care for each athlete. He believes that success begins with high standards — both on and off the ice — and he challenges his players to consistently push beyond their comfort zones. Discipline, work ethic, and resilience are non-negotiable expectations within his program.

At the same time, Vic recognizes that every athlete is unique. Each player learns differently, responds to feedback differently, and is motivated by different factors. He takes pride in understanding the individual — not just the player — adapting his communication and coaching style to bring out the best in each athlete.

While he is demanding and holds players accountable, his approach is rooted in compassion and respect. He believes young athletes perform at their highest level when they feel supported, valued, and understood. By balancing toughness with empathy, Vic creates an environment where players develop confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of responsibility — preparing them not only for success in hockey, but in life.

Vic has served as Head Coach of the WCAHA Jr. Blazers since 2016. Throughout his tenure, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to player development, making a meaningful and lasting impact within the local hockey community. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he has served as Coaching Director for the past two seasons, providing leadership and strategic direction for the program.

An Abbotsford native, Vic began his junior hockey career in 1996 with the Abbotsford Pilots of the PIJHL before advancing to the BCHL with the Nanaimo Clippers. In 1998, he joined the Cowichan Valley Capitals, where he played two seasons, and concluded his BCHL career with the South Surrey Eagles.

In 2001, Vic commenced his collegiate hockey career at the NCAA Division I level with the RPI Engineers. Following his graduation in 2005, he played one professional season with the Lubbock Cotton Kings of the CHL before retiring from competitive hockey.
